The Saboteur is an action-adventure third-person game. It was released for Windows, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. It is set during the World War 2 in German-occupied France. You play as Sean Devlin, an Irish mechanic who is somewhat of a drunk. At the beginning of the game, your character is cheated out of a win in a popular race by a Nazi officer. To seek revenge, you and your best friend, Jules, sabotage the officer's car but are captured afterwards. Your friend is killed and all you have left is your desire to get revenge. That is what the game is basically about - getting back at him for what he did to your friend.
The first thing that you will notice when you start playing The Saboteur is that almost everything is in black and white. Only a few elements have color. This is a design choice and a great one, too. The black and white areas represent parts of the city where German occupation is strong. When you carry out missions that weaken the hold of the Germans on a specific part of the city, it will start regaining color.
As you might expect from the premise of the game, there will be a lot of gunfights, car chases and explosions. Most of the game mechanics are great. The fights look good and the action scenes are packed with intense moments.
This is an open-world game, so you will spend a good amount of time exploring the city, climbing on buildings and cranes, and so on. There is a lot of this in the game, so if you get bored exploring, then this isn't the game for you.
